Favre's former coach contemplating return to NFL

Looks like Brett Favre and Mike Holmgren operate along the same frequency. On the heels of Favre's possible return to the NFL, former Seattle Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren is getting the urge to return to football per ESPN.com.

"I would never say never," said Holmgren, on KJR radio in Seattle when asked about a potential return to the Seahawks. "That would be a nice thing if I could come back in some capacity and work for the club."

"Take a look at who just popped into the Q13 Fox studio. That's former Seahawks Coach Mike Holmgren with his wife Kathy. They were here to talk about their ongoing work in Africa."
Twitpic posted by @InsideQ13Fox from Seattle's Fox affiliate KCPQ Q13 Fox News on May 6.

Following a disappointing season in which the Seahawks finished 4-12, and the team unceremoniously announced that 2008 would be his last season, Holmgren agreed to take a year off.

Holmgren coached the Green Bay Packers from 1992 - 1998 when Favre was on the team.

Across the country, fans are twittering their response to this recent development from Seattle.

Favre's former coach contemplating return to NFL

Brett Favre tells Vikings coach he's staying retired

Looks like Favre is staying retired -- for now.

Per Yahoo! Sports, Brett Favre told Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress today that he plans to stay retired. He is expected to announce his reasoning later today.

Favre came out of retirement last year to play for the New York Jets for one year, but was released from his contract with the Jets after the team drafted former USC quarterback Mark Sanchez. The veteran quarterback and future Hall of Famer wanted to play for the Vikings last season, but the negotiations with his former Green Bay Packers wouldn't allow it.

More from ESPN:

Brett Favre to return to NFL?

What would spring be without news on the NBA playoffs, Alex Rodriquez's latest shenanigans, or Brett Favre?

According to foxsports.com, all signs are leading towards one conclusion- another return to football from Favre. There is of plenty smoke right now on this story, meaning there's fire somewhere. Probably in Mississippi where Favre has hired a personal trainer.

The Vikings did nothing over the weekend to squelch rumors of another comeback, as coach Brad Childress said the team would talk about signing the soon-to-be 40-year-old QB.

This is a milestone day on BT Sports. Two Favre posts in two days. I get the feeling it won't be our last.

Brett Favre to return to NFL?

Favre coming out of retirement ...again? Vikings coach says he may pursue former Jets quarterback

Is he or isn't he?

First Brett Favre retired and left the Green Bay Packers only to return to the game as the quarterback for the New York Jets.

Now Favre says he's retired again (his statement claims he is retired "at this time"), but reports indicate he may jump ship to Minnesota.

Per SI.com, Vikings coach Brad Childress would not directly state that his team was pursuing Favre, but he did say they wouldn't rule out the possibility.

"We haven't. It doesn't mean we won't," Childress said. "We talk about everything, from what's going on in the United States on the front page today. ... So, yeah, I'm sure we'll talk about that."

Favre's private jet was also spotted in Minneapolis this week, leading to speculation that the veteran quarterback may be in talks about joining the Vikings.

The Twitterverse reacted to the possibility of Favre returning to the game once again for a different team:
