Gators' coach Urban Meyer doesn't like criticism

Florida football coach Urban Meyer's ego stretches from the Florida panhandle to the setting sun of the Florida keys.

It's no wonder then that Meyer took great disdain to the criticism former Florida quarterback Shane Matthews levied against his alma mater after Florida's only loss to Ole Miss last year, per the Orlando Sentinel.

Matthews, according to Meyer, needs to "bleed orange and blue". This said of a quarterback who in 1993 finished fifth in Heisman Trophy voting and set new marks for career passing yardage.

What was the Twittersphere saying (including a few from ESPN)?

T-minus four months to NCAA kickoff; fans excited, coaches looking at starting positions

It's May... Baseball season is in full swing, we're in the middle of the NBA and NHL playoffs, and summer is on the horizon.

But with all of this BCS talk in Congress and less than four months to go until the first game's kickoff, excitement for college football season is warming up with the weather.

Looks like universities caught some spring fever too. Per ESPN.com, several teams are seeing promise after spring game performances.

USC Coach Pete Carroll named Aaron Corp as the starting quarterback -- beating out Arkansas transfer Mitch Mustain, who got beat by freshman Matt Barkley as Corp's backup.

On the cusp of their worst season in school history last year and losing veteran Nick Sheridan to a broken leg, Michigan Coach Rich Rodriguez is looking to freshman Tate Forcier to take the snaps.

Notre Dame seems to have a running game, Jarrett Brown looks to replace record-breaking Pat White at West Virginia, Tim Tebow moves to center for the Gators, and Malcom Williams could be a big threat at receiver for Texas.

NCAA football fans have been tweeting their anticipation for the upcoming season:
