Michael Jordan in basketball hall of fame

Per ChicagoTribune.com, NBA legend and former Chicago Bull Michael Jordan was elected to the 2009 Basketball Hall of Fame.

Jordan was a five-time MVP who led his team to six NBA titles. He accepted a Hall of Fame jersey at the site of the men's Final Four in Detroit where his alma mater, the North Carolina Tar Heels, will face Michigan State for the national championship. He won a title with UNC when current coach Roy Williams was an assistant in 1982.

Also in Jordan's 2009 class are former San Antonio Spur David Robinson, and former Utah Jazz John Stockton and his coach in Utah, Jerry Sloan. Rutgers women's coach C. Vivian Stringer was also elected.
